This free UAE salary calculator estimates private-sector pay for a selected period. It combines pro-rated salary, allowances and a monthly bonus, then applies entered deductions, unpaid leave, statutory sick-leave pay bands and overtime. Salary and date inputs are calculated locally in your browser and are not sent to our document API.

What the salary estimate includes

Start with the basic monthly salary and the dates worked. Add recurring housing, transport and other allowances and any monthly bonus. Subtract entered deductions and unpaid-leave days. Sick days and overtime are then applied using the rules described below.

The displayed result is an estimate, not a payroll statement. It does not calculate every employer benefit, pension regime, court order, loan, commission, tax residence consequence or company-specific payroll rule.

30-day pay basis and pro-rating

The calculator uses a 30-day month for daily-pay calculations. Article 67 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 states that a month is 30 days when periods and dates are calculated under the law.

A complete selected month receives the monthly package. A partial period receives the daily amount for the worked days. Payroll policies can be more favourable, so compare the estimate with the contract and employer calculation.

Sick-leave pay bands

After probation, Article 31 provides up to 90 sick-leave days in a year: the first 15 days at full pay, the next 30 days at half pay and the following 45 days without pay. The calculator asks for earlier sick days in the same year so it can place the current period in the correct paid band.

The tool models the first 45 paid-band days and treats later sick days as unpaid. Probation, notice and evidence requirements can change entitlement; verify an individual case with the law and the employer.

Overtime calculated from basic wage

The ordinary overtime field uses the basic-wage hourly rate plus 25% (1.25×). The off-day / night field uses 1.5×. The hourly base is basic monthly salary ÷ 30 ÷ 8; allowances are not included in that base.

These are simplified statutory-floor estimates. Night work from 22:00 to 04:00 has a shift-worker exception, and work on a weekly rest day may instead lead to a substitute rest day. Use the dedicated overtime calculator for those choices and limits.

Informational ILOE note

After a calculation, the result panel shows an informational Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) category based on basic salary. It includes the published premium ceiling and the 60% compensation illustration, subject to the scheme cap and maximum three-month period.

Official descriptions differ at exactly AED 16,000: the UAE Government portal describes category 1 as below AED 16,000, while iloe.ae says AED 16,000 or below. This tool follows the UAE Government wording and flags the result as guidance only.

Assumptions and limitations

The resident / UAE National control applies a simplified 5% social-contribution assumption to the basic component. It is not a GPSSA contribution assessment and may not match the person’s applicable pension law, contribution account salary or registration date.

Amounts are rounded to two decimals. The calculator does not decide whether overtime was authorised, whether a substitute rest day applies, or whether an employee falls within an exception. An employer may grant terms that are more favourable than the statutory floor.

Worked examples

Examples isolate the main arithmetic; actual payroll can include several items at once.

Full month without adjustments

Basic salary AED 10,000; no allowances, leave, overtime or deductions; full month selected.

Estimated pay: AED 10,000.00.

Ordinary overtime addition

Basic salary AED 12,000: hourly basic wage = 12,000 ÷ 30 ÷ 8 = AED 50. Ten ordinary overtime hours use 50 × 1.25 × 10.

Estimated overtime addition: AED 625.00.

Frequently asked questions

Is the UAE salary calculator free?

Yes. It can be used without creating an account, and salary and date inputs are calculated locally in the browser.

Does the calculator use basic salary or total salary for overtime?

It derives the overtime hourly rate from basic salary only. Allowances are excluded from that hourly base.

Why does it divide monthly salary by 30 days?

The 30-day basis follows Article 67 for calculations of periods under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021.

How is UAE sick leave estimated?

After probation, the annual bands are 15 days at full pay, 30 at half pay and 45 without pay. Earlier sick days entered for the year determine which band the current days use.

Is night or rest-day overtime always paid at 1.5×?

Not in every circumstance. Night work has a shift-worker exception, and weekly-rest-day work may be compensated with a substitute day. The combined field is a simplified pay estimate.

Is the ILOE amount a benefit decision?

No. It is an informational illustration based on basic salary. Eligibility and payment are determined under the official ILOE scheme.

Is the 5% UAE National deduction an official pension calculation?

No. It is a simplified tool assumption and not a GPSSA assessment. Confirm the applicable scheme and contribution salary separately.
